Headline How can we accelerate high speed data transmission for PCB?

What can you do in 1 minute?
The Department of Optics and Photonics in the Institute of Optical Sciences (IOS) Taiwan has successfully investigated the world’s smallest micro-optical modules that guarantee the fastest possible rate of reliable data transmission up to 40Gb/s. The rate has also been upgraded from Megabyte to Gigabyte. Such “seckilling” development has formed a revolution of lighting in the optoelectronics industry!

As a result, we are fully awake to the digital technology of the high-definition video and audio and high-speed mobile network situation. The major electronic manufacturers must continue to enhance its data transmission rate and improve the quality and speed of audio and video data transmission in favour of a competitive electronic market for consumers.

In addition to the recently Introduction to High Frequency Board- JetPCB takes control of impedance the transmission speed of electronic devices will be affected by copper traces, connectors, chip packaging, and through-hole caused by poor signals (Note 1).

When FR4 can no longer satisfy your needs…
Considering factors of copper traces, we use low loss insulating material, such as Nelco and Rogers to replace other FR4 materials in order to reduce the signal attenuation caused by the copper traces on a PCB. Though Rogers material can provide a data transmission rate which is about 2 times greater than other FR4 materials (including Nelco), the selling price is about 15~ 20% higher. Therefore, the most ideal material to be used is Nelco.

Following is an introduction of Rogers and Nelco materials:

Other recommendations RO4000® material's thermal coefficient of expansion (CTE) is similar to that of copper which allows the material to exhibit excellent dimensional stability, a property needed for mixed dielectric multi-layer boards constructions.
RO4003® laminates are currently offered in various configurations utilizing both 1080 and 1674 glass fabric styles, with all configurations meeting the same laminate electrical performance specification. Specifically designed as a drop-in replacement for the RO4350B laminates utilize RoHS compliant flame-retardant technology for applications requiring UL 94V-0 certification
