The advantages of Polyimide:
Polyimide (abbreviated PI) is so called Kapton in DuPont with 1/1000 of an inch thickness. Knowing its special chemical structure, we admit that Polyimides exhibit high tensile strength, good heat and chemical resistance, excellent stability of antioxidants, dielectric constant, good mechanical properties and radiation resistance, and the possibility for deflection which allow them to be widely used in the electronics industry.
Polyimides’ excellent heat resistance ability enables them to be used in any working conditions. In general, the temperature range is within -452°F(-269℃) to +436°F(+260℃). The highest temperature can be reached to +752°F(+400℃). This is one of the reasons why most engineers choose to use such material to proceed with PCB production, given that it qualifies the requirement for heating demand. Some of the PCB productions using Polyimides are Load board, Probe card, Burn-in board…etc.
